DRC President Arrives in Doha to Participate in 2nd World Summit for Social Development

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is at the center of several global issues and the voice of its President is highly sought after in all major forums.

It is in this context that the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo arrived this Sunday in Doha to participate in the second world summit for social development organised from 4 to 6 November by Qatar, under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly.

Warmly welcomed by the Qatari authorities, Head of State Félix Tshisekedi and the distinguished First Lady Denise Nyakeru have taken up residence in Doha awaiting these important meetings.

For two days, Heads of State and Government, policymakers and other humanitarian organizations will reflect on ways to effectively combat poverty, inequality and social exclusion, promote decent work and advance social justice, solidarity and equality.

These meetings represent yet another opportunity for the Head of State to make his plea heard in favor of the DRC, which has been severely affected by a security and humanitarian crisis caused by Rwanda’s predatory war.

From the podium of the Qatar National Convention Centre, the President of the Republic will address peace-loving leaders on the disastrous consequences created by Rwanda and the AFC/M23 coalition.

By accepting the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, the President of the Republic also wants to thank the Gulf monarchy for its tireless mediation efforts undertaken for several months in favor of a lasting peace in the eastern part of the DRC.

During this 48-hour working visit, the Head of State intends to meet with Qatari authorities to discuss bilateral issues.
