Istituto di Moda Burgo (IMB Qatar), the first Italian fashion institute in Qatar, collaborated with Doha Expo 2023 to present the eco-conscious style event, ‘Green Fashion Night’, at the Cultural Zone. The event, held on December 13, featured activities such as a sustainable green fashion workshop and Qatar Green Fashion Show, along with installations on fashion sustainability.
The founder and head of the institute, Meenu Prasad, opened the event with an awareness workshop on green sustainable fashion. She emphasised the importance of making conscious and sustainable choices in fashion for a better and more sustainable environment. The workshop included a short demonstration of zero-waste fashion styles and featured guest speaker Dana Hani Elghazal, the founder of the local circular fashion brand Indelg, who shared insights into her journey embracing fashion sustainability.
The Green Fashion Show, in collaboration with the talent firm The Abstract Agency, featured guest of honors Farhan Al Sheikh Al Sayed, the head of the Council of Modest Fashion, Qatar (part of the South Asia chapter for the Council of Modest Fashion), and HE Valerie Lusamba Kabeya, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Qatar. The event was covered by the photography team Shineclicksdoha, and the makeup for fashion models was done by the glam team by JennyRtistic.
The event was attended by VIP guests, popular bloggers, IMB students’ families, and expo visitors. IMB Qatar fashion students showcased a sustainable green fashion show that depicted concepts like the intersection of culture and sustainability, incorporating elements of Qatari weaving (Al Sadu) along with concepts like zero waste, recycling, and upcycling of fashion. The event concluded with an award ceremony for IMBQ Green Fashion Show participants and installations.
